La Vista’s Byron Bay Restaurant Guide
There are just so many wonderful restaurants in and around Byron Bay that creating a must visit list is very difficult. However some are just genuinely consistent serving up fresh, locally sourced food with great flavours and genuine innovative flair. Some of La Vista’s ‘must visits’ include:
Opposite the Beach Hotel on Johnson St you’ll find a great little Byron style Mexican Cantina. Miss Margarita is everything you love about Byron Bay, relaxed, fun and chilled with some delicious food. Pulled pork nachos are a must, and get there for happy hour 5-6pm when the Cocktails are flowing.
Harvest Cafe and Del
We love Harvest Cafe!! Set in a charming, early 1900´s historic cottage with a cozy fire and elegant bar, located 15min drive from Byron Bay in the small village of Newrybar. The ambience, the fresh & local produce, the amazing food, the great coffee and the fantastic cocktails make Harvest the perfect package and a must when visiting Byron Bay. Be sure to wander next door to the Harvest Deli to pick up some amazing local cured meats and cheeses.
La Vista’s favorite place for breakfast after a long swim in the ocean. Targa serves the perfect Genovese Coffee and the scrambled eggs are amazing. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner serving Italian style food, Targa offers the perfect place to enjoy the morning papers or enjoy a nice long lunch.
Tucked away in Bay Lane, Il Buco serves up true authentic Italian and is one of Byron’s hidden little gem’s. Some say it’s the best pizza they’ve ever eaten… and we have to agree! Try the Marinara Pizza with tomato, garlic, fresh basil & chili .
A café by day, the venue morphs into an intimate whisky bar and restaurant by night. Sourcing seasonal, local and organic produce, The Roadhouse’s talented chefs seek to highlight the freshest of flavours, evident in café style breakfasts like Buckwheat pancakes sweetened with cane juice topped with grilled banana, Tenterfield strawberries and local organic cultured yogurt.
Frankie Brown Café
Sit back, relax and enjoy the great atmosphere Frankie Brown’s is known for. Owned by singer Pete Murray, you might just catch a live performance by the Byron local. Named after his pet kelpie, Frankie’s offers great food, sensational cocktails and local live music 6 nights a week. Perfect place to settle in for the afternoon and enjoy some chilled out tunes with friends.
The Balcony Bar & Restaurant
Located in the heart of Byron Bay, the Balcony is the perfect place to sit back, relax and enjoy a afternoon cocktail with some delicious tapas or chose from their extensive dining menu and award wining wine list. Enjoy $10 Margarita’s 4-6pm weekdays. Who can say no to that?
St Elmo Dining Room & Bar
St Elmo plates up some delicious Spanish tapas with real Byron atmosphere. Mouth watering flavours, combined with outstanding service, and a global wine list of over a 100 bottles its easy to see why so many people flock to St Elmo’s. The sliders are amazing! Don’t miss their Sunday Social Club, with live music on Sunday afternoons.
Italian at the Pacific
Italian at the Pacific is situated right next to the iconic Beach Hotel and is one of Byron’s finer dinning experiences. Serving up classic modern Italian cuisine it’s warm and inviting with impeccable service. Wonderful cocktails by the sea with a pleasant ambience but can be quite expensive.
The Top Shop
Byron is full of hidden gems, one of our favorites is the Top Shop. Popular with the Locals, famous for its burgers and its easy to see why as most weekends the nature strip is covered with people lying in the sun enjoying their burgers. All their produce is sourced locally, its a must when visiting Byron Bay!
Treehouse On Belongil
If you love amazing wood fired pizzas, great cocktails and live music then you have to check out Treehouse On Belongil. Located just out of town, its the perfect place to relax and enjoy the Byron vibe.
Cicchetti (Closed for Refurbishments until 2018)
Serving up exquisite authentic Italian cuisine, our friends at Cicchetti have created Byron Bay’s escape to Venice. Taking its name from the Italian meaning of ‘tapas’, its menu ranges from bar snacks, antipasti and pasta with highlights such as butternut pumpkin house made gnocchi with taleggio cheese sauce, toasted almonds and spiced wine reduction. With an extensive wine list to perfectly match each dish and cocktails to die for its a must if you love Italian food like we do!
